This Sucks!
You ever have something that you worked really hard on and then someone tells you that it's not very good. It sucks. It just takes all the wind out of your sails and rips away all of your confidence. Well, that happened to me tonight.
I started crafting again and I opened this little shop on Etsy. I was feeling pretty good about the whole thing. I had even made a couple of sales. Tonight I got an e-mail from someone who basically told me that had they seen the item that they had bought, they never would have bought it. She then went on to tell me, in great detail, everything that she found wrong with it. I am trying to take it as constructive criticism, but it still sucks.
The whole point is that things on Etsy are homemade crafts, not mass produced items without any flaws. I was proud of what I had made or I never would have put them up for sale. Even this weekend, I brought some of my items to show my mom, the woman who taught be how to sew, and she said they were well done and that she was really impressed. I guess that is what moms are supposed to say. At this point, my confidence is so shaken, I am ready to close up shop and forget about the whole thing.
It sucks to put yourself out there and then be told that you aren't good enough.

I'm so sorry! Some people are so dumb. Of course they're not going to be perfect, that's why it's homemade.
When I showed my boss the pictures I planned to enter in the county fair she said, "you really think you'll be able to win with those?" I was heartbroken. Then I won Grand Champion and received 2 second places.

That buyer is not worthy of your talent. Because she lacks the talent to be a creator, she is a buyer. Unfortunately she also lacks social grace. You are a gifted and talented craftsperson; go forth and create! Above all, find pleasure and enjoyment in your crafts. You are a winner! /gg

Give me the address you mailed it to. I'll take care of this problem.
This makes me really angry. I've seen your wares, and you are very good at what you're doing. At least you have the feedback option if she goes nuclear.

Thats nuts. Don't let one rude person get you down. He/She apparently doesn't understand that its not meant to be something you can buy 16 of from walmart. They're awesome because someone took the time to make them, heartfelt, and from their own creativity. Don't let that get to you. You're awesome, you're stuff is awesome, and Choconilla deserves a better class of customers! :)

Sounds like an unhappy person in general. I know I'd be shaken too, but don't let one nasty person stop you!

Don't close up your shop! Don't let complainers get you down. I'm sure it was fine and she would have been negative no matter what.

I have known people that no matter who you are or what you are offering will they be unhappy with it. I have a friend that makes amazing bread. When she makes bread, she makes a ton and shares with her neighbors, friends, etc. She isn't greedy about sharing her recipe either. She will share it with anyone. So, anyway she gets a call one morning from someone she doesn't know. She doesn't even know the person who gave this woman her recipe. This woman proceeds to tell my friend that she doesn't like her bread and goes into detail about each of the things she thinks are inferior about her bread. Huh.......It makes you wonder what people are really after sometimes.
Carrie T hooked me up to find your blog. I'm sorry that today was less than pleasant. Don't let this woman get to you. Just not worth it.
